Yart Sale Art!

Hey everyone, Wow did last week fly by fast, and it seems that the older I get the more summer seems to fly by. I have been enjoying cooler weather where I live and it's been so nice just to lay outside and enjoy the outdoors. I have also been working on more small paintings for the Yart Sale and knitting a huge shawl! Yes, did I mention that I knit? I love knitting its so much fun. I just love making myself unique things to ware. If I ever show you guys my knitting I think I will post it on a separate blog, for I don't finish knitting projects that often. Anyways, here are the three small paintings I finished this past week.

Sorry about the glare on this one, for its because of the varnish that's on it.

My Hiding Place...

Hey guys, it is still a painting storm at my house. I had a little set back when I tried to paint something that just wasn't me, so I decided to gesso over it and use the texture that was underneath to guide me in another painting. So tomorrow I will show you guys one of those paintings, for their where two of them that I gessoed over. Anyways here is another small painting for the Yart Sale!

So I have a question, I’ve been trying to think of a new color scheme to use in my paintings. What color schemes do you propose that I use or what color schemes are your favorites? Let me know in the comments, for I would love to know what you guys think and would really appreciate your input.

Back Issued Artwork

Hey everyone! I am feeling a bit better and I am hoping to get some paintings done today. The plans for the art sale are in full swing and I am super excited about it! It should be the event of the summer, hence the fact that I need to make more art work for it. Anyways, I have a bunch of artwork that is going to be in the sale besides the small painting I've already shown you, and I thought I would give you guys a sneak peek . Summer...

My boyfriend and I went on a photoshoot yesterday and I got some wonderful shots that I just have to share with you. I also would love to know which ones you like best. So here they are!

I am super happy with the way these photos came out. I hope to take more pictures like these this summer, for I can be sometimes really lazy about getting my camera out. I am also taking more photos tomorrow for my friend Sheri's wedding. I am super excited about the wedding and can't wait to share my favorite shots with you. Have a great weekend everyone!

Planetary Surfaces

Well as promised I am showing you today a few of my sketches from my sketch book. I usually only show a very select few my sketches, so this is a little scary for me. The sketches are based off of plant and moon surfaces from our solar system. I have always loved space, for when I was little I wanted to be an astronaut. The idea of me being an astronaut now is very funny to me because I am not a big mathematics fan. I however still love the wonderful world of space and it has always inspired my work in one way or another. Anyways, here are the sketches and I would love feedback on them so please feel free to comment.

More Little Guys...ect

Wow it’s hot out where I live. We are having a week of 80 degree days, so I have been cloistered in doors painting. I’ve been working on a series of small paintings for an art yard sale that I am having with my art guild called Temporary Artists . I am super excited about the sale, for it should be really fun and a great experience. I’ll let you guys know more about the sale once I know more details and have a poster to show you. Anyways, here are two of the small paintings that will be in the sale.

I also have been working on a series of painting that are inspired off of planetary surfaces from our solar system. It's only in its beginning stage(a.k.a. sketches). I will show you some of the sketches from that series tomorrow. I would really like to know what you guys think of my series of small paintings, so feel free to comment.

Busy Weekend.

It’s been a busy weekend, but an absolutely gorgeous one weather wise. I didn't paint at all this weekend on the account that I had a cold, but I however did get the chance to take some photographs. Tell me what you think of them!

In other news I am photographing a wedding for my lovely friend Sheri this coming weekend. I am super excited to photograph the wedding for her. I can't wait to see what shots I will get and I’m looking forward to sharing some of the photos here on this blog!:) So look forward to that in the coming weeks!

Transitions Show and Books for Artistic Inspiration

The heat wave here in the U.S.A. has finally hit my part of the country and it’s so hot right now that I feel like a menopausal woman, which I’m not. I really hate the heat and don’t enjoy when it gets above 80 degrees, for I start feeling like a wilted flower. Anyways…………….

The good news is that I am currently showing a Linn Benton Community College in a show called Transitions with some of my guild mates from our guild called Temporary Artists Here’s the flyer incase you want to stop by and check it out!

Also, I have been seeking inspiration for the series of paintings that I'm working on currently. I decided since my paintings already look like something from outer space why not push that further. I have found my inspiration in two books by Michael Benson entitled “Far out” and “Beyond”. I absolutely love these books and the photos are amazing. I have ready begun to find inspiration for new abstract paintings and ways to make my current work look even better. Nature really is our best teacher when it comes to forms for paintings. So, I will be posting pictures of my new and improved work soon!

Green and Black

Just a short post today, for I am spending the day with my very sweet boyfriend James. I have been working on a series of small paintings lately and it has really been enjoyable. I love small painting because of their instant gratification factor. I can finish two small painting a day if I start early in the day. So, I will leave you with some pictures of one of my recent small paintings.
